Less than six months after the original HTC Titan first hit the shelves, it can now effectively move over since its successor, the HTC Titan II, just became official when the handset was announced by HTC at the ongoing CES 2012. Looking back, the original Titan was a “titan” of a smartphone but it is easily eclipsed by its successor.
With the components and capabilities that the HTC Titan II brings to the table, the handset is expected to be the next hottest thing in the Windows Phone realm and this handset is said to be already making its way to AT&T and will hit the shelves of the wireless provider during the first half of 2012.
The HTC Titan II may be lumped in with the usual Windows Phone crowd but then again, the handset has got quite a few tricks up its rather big sleeve. Read on to get the full details of the specs sheet of the HTC Titan II, the handset that will prove that big really is better.
The HTC Titan II has dimensions of 132 x 69 x 13 mm and just by looking at the numbers, you will immediately realize that the handset is not for average smartphone user with dainty hands. In short, the Titan II is aptly named just like its predecessor because of its massive size. Despite its gigantic proportions though, the HTC Titan II manages to not tip the scales too much as it only weighs in at 147 grams.
Under the hood, the HTC Titan II has its circuitry built around the Snapdragon platform and at the helm of its operations is the handset’s QualComm S2 chipset. This SoC chipset brings to the HTC Titan II a single-core 1.5GHz Scorpion processor and a dedicated Adreno 205 GPU for some graphical muscle-flexing.
Despite the absence of a dual-core processor in the guts of the HTC Titan II, the handset is able to turn out an incredibly smooth performance. You won’t actually believe that the handset only has a single-core processor in its internals when you are navigating its user interface. Apps opened in a snap and lags and stutters are barely noticeable.
The display of the HTC Titan II a consequence is also of “titanic” proportions with is diagonal of 4.7 inches. It is of the SuperLCD capacitive touchscreen type with a 480 x 800 resolution. The display is able to perform well even under direct sunlight and viewing angels are just excellent on this device.
What the crowning glory of the HTC Titan II though is its rear-facing 16MP autofocus shooter. It has a pair of LED flash that comes handy when shooting in lowlight conditions and the shooter itself is capable of coming up with images of up to 4640 x 3480 pixels. The shooter is also capable of 720p recording at 30 fps. Round its front on the other hand is the handset’s 1.3MP video call camera.
At this point, the HTC Titan II can be considered as the best Windows Phone handset. The 16MP shooter, its extended battery life and LTE support will definitely get the HTC Titan II in the shortlist of any guy who is interested in making the jump to the Windows Phone platform.
