It seems like it was not that long ago that we got to see Nokia release the Lumia series on the AT&T network and today, the company announced another update for 900 users. Updates are not a bad thing, but when your handset gets a couple of minor ones a little too often you start to wonder about the stability of your phone. This update, which is based off the feedback from customers since the launch back in April, will address a bug that causes a purple hue on the touch screen with some of the devices. Apparently the hue was only showing up with the touch screen was activated during low light situations. The update will also improve the phones proximity sensor and “other minor adjustments and enhancements” to the Lumia 900.
This update is typically called a “maintenance update”, but it appears that Nokia did not want to call it that for whatever reasons. In the mean time, you will not have to wait for this update. It is available for download right now and you can get the update by connecting your phone to the computer with Zune for Windows or Windows Phone 7 Connector for Mac. Granted a purple hue would be quite annoying to see on a touch screen device, so the update will likely be appreciated by users.
There was not that much information about the actually update, including the size of the update or what the other “minor adjustments and enhancements” were, so if you need more information you can check out the support pages for the Nokia Lumia 900. Back in April, shortly after the phone launched, an update was rolled out that corrected a problem that left users with any connection whatsoever. That update went over very well and users continued on looking for more things to enhance.
The Nokia Lumia 900 is one of the first Nokia/Windows Phone powered devices that took off and really started to sell well in the United States. The phone features include 4G LTE connectivity, a 4.3-inch ClearBlack OLED display with an 840×800 pixel resolution and a battery life of 7+ hours. It comes with a mobile hotspot feature, 16GB of internal memory, a 1.4GHz processor and 512MB of RAM. The device also features an 8MP camera, with dual LED flash, on the back side that can record 720p HD video.
